Pokagon Tribal Chairman Talks About New Casino Plans



The Pokagon Tribe officially announced its gaming commission approved a proposal to build a casino in Hartford Township. The casino would be a smaller satellite of the Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo. The Pokagon Gaming Authority has discussed the issue for more than a year. The casino would provide jobs to tribal members and others from the Hartford area. It would also make an easier commute for people who drive the 45 minutes it takes to get to Four Winds. Tribal Chairman Matthew Wesaw says Hartford is a good choice for business and because the tribe had limited options on placement:

The casino is expected to have a very similar feel to that of the Four Winds, just at a much smaller level.
