Senior In Favor of Jobless Benefit Extension



If you think its hard trying to find a job while you are in your 20s or 30s, imagine trying to find one while you are in your 70s. One group which will benefit from the new passage of jobless benefits are seniors. 71 year old Madge Porterfield is happy Congress passed the extension. Porterfield lost her benefits as she was working only 20 hours a week as an administrative assistant for the United Way in Benton Harbor. Even with the part time job Porterfield still needs the benefits. She says she is glad the benefits will kick in as it is a tough time for everyone, especially seniors:

Porterfield has just received three more job offers, two part time and one full time. She intends to take all three and will still need some jobless benefits. She says the extension will help her a lot. She says finding jobs is the most important help a struggling senior can do:
