Hoogendyk Hints At Possible Challenge To Upton

A conservative Republican from the Kalamazoo area has hinted that he might challenge Congressman Fred Upton in the next primary election. According to the Kalamazoo Gazette, former State Representative Jack Hoogendyk recently sent out an e-mail to supporters blasting Upton for backing various spending bills, and asking for their input on whether he should enter the August primary against the Saint Joseph Republican. Hoogendyk served in the State House from 2002 to 2008, and unsuccessful ran against Democratic US Senator Carl Levin that same year. He's also been a speaker at a number of Tea Party Patriots events. The Kalamazoo Republican Party tells us that it has no official word on what Hoogendyk will do, and we were unable to reach him for comment.
